Partisan is a Pop-up restaurant from Alan and Jennie Williams

Established in 2024 though in the planning for much longer, we do one-off pop up events to showcase our food and warm welcome while we build towards a permanent home

We describe our food style as ‘British with an Italian accent’. you can expect simple and ingredients that haven’t been messed around with too much. we are fans of great produce, preferably British but with a background in Italian food and with us having lived and worked in Italy, the influence is plain to see.

We are approaching this with a diy, punk ethos, building it ourselves and popping up wherever and wherever we can.

If you are interested in Partisan appearing at your venue, email us at the link below or drop us a line on our Instagram. While we are based in London, we are open to events elsewhere so please don’t hesitate to get in touch!

Partisan is:

Alan and Jennie Williams

We have been together for 20 years and have always shared a love for good food and drink, travel and music.

The initial idea for Partisan came about more than 15 years ago. When Alan left a career in banking to pursue a career as a chef, a place of our own was always a part of the long term plan.

After moving to Bologna for almost 3 years, including lockdown, we moved to London in 2021 which is where we are now based.

Partisan began as a way to launch and refine our restaurant concept in diverse spaces while keeping up the day jobs

Alan Williams

Alan spent a decade working for a high street bank before taking the plunge and pursuing a career as a Chef, getting his start working for Matt Budden at a country house hotel in the New Forest.

15 years later and Alan has worked in a number of different places, including a stint at Ristorante Guido in Bologna.

Most recently, upon moving back to the UK, Alan went to work for Russell Norman at the acclaimed Trattoria Brutto. Having been part of the opening team, he is still there today working as the Sous Chef.

Jennie Williams

Jennie spent her early career behind the bar in a number of Southampton pubs, a time that she remembers as the happiest of her working life before moving into a more lucrative career in Risk Management for various financial institutions.

Aside from her career, Jennie has earned a Masters Degree in Creative Writing, studying cultural phenomena and writing on the DC punk scene.

Later, Jennie used her time living in Bologna to teach English, improve her Italian and focus on her writing.

Partisan is a chance for Jennie to step away from the corporate world and indulge her love of food, wine and hospitality. She is the consummate host, knowledgeable, friendly and with a real desire to see people enjoy themselves
